The MPU6050 combines a MEMS 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope on the same silicon die, making it ideal for low-cost, low-power, high-performance motion sensing in wearables, smartphones, and tablets. It includes a Digital Motion Processor (DMP) to offload processing from the microcontroller, improving accuracy and computational power. The auxiliary I2C pins allow connection to external sensors like a magnetometer for full 9-axis motion data.
To connect to an Arduino, power from VCC and GND, and connect SDA to A4 and SCL to A5. If not using additional sensors, XDA and XCL can be left unconnected. The INT pin indicates FIFO buffer full. For multiple MPU6050s, use the AD0 pin to set different addresses.
